Andrews Evolution Big Twin Cams (1984–1999)

Refined engineering for the 1340 Evo — from smooth touring to track-day fury.

The Evolution Big Twin engine is one of Harley-Davidson’s finest mechanical achievements: simple, robust, endlessly tuneable. Yet even a good engine can be made better — and that’s where Andrews comes in.

For decades, Andrews Products have been the go-to for riders who want reliable, properly engineered camshafts that deliver real-world gains without turning their motorcycle into a hand grenade. These cams are precision-ground, heat-treated, and made in the USA, offering a wide range of power characteristics from mild to wild — all as direct replacements for 1984–1999 Evolution Big Twin engines.

Each profile fits standard cam chest layouts with no machining required. Choose your cam based on how you ride — and pair it with quality parts like our S&S inner needle bearings, Dynatek 2000i ignitions, high-flow oil pumps, and performance exhausts for the perfect setup.

Cam Line-Up

🛠 EV13 – Stage 1 Touring / Smooth Upgrade

For riders who prefer refinement over racket.
A modest lift in torque and throttle response for stock engines. Keeps idle smooth and manners polite — perfect for long-haul touring and daily use.

Recommended pairing:

  • Stock compression (8.5–9.0:1)

  • Stock or CV carb with jet kit

  • Free-flowing air cleaner

  • Mild touring exhaust (Cycle Shack, Screamin’ Eagle, or MF Customs slip-ons)

  • Optional Dynatek 2000i ignition for cleaner spark timing

  • S&S cam bearing for reliability

⚙️ EV23 – Stage 1 Street Performance

A bit more spirit, but still a gentleman.
Brings life to a stock Evo with crisper throttle and a healthier mid-range. Works beautifully with a freer-flowing exhaust and air cleaner.

Recommended pairing:

  • 9.0:1 compression

  • CV or S&S Super E carburetor

  • 2-into-1 exhaust or well-tuned duals

  • Adjustable pushrods

  • Dynatek 2000i ignition

🔧 EV27 – Stage 2 Hot Street (Most Popular)

Polite when cruising, rude when provoked.
The classic all-rounder — gives that unmistakable lope at idle, with strong midrange punch.

Recommended pairing:

  • 9.0–9.5:1 compression

  • S&S Super E or Mikuni HSR42

  • Free-flowing 2-into-1 exhaust

  • Adjustable pushrods & valve springs

  • Dynatek 2000i ignition

  • S&S oil pump upgrade

🔩 EV31 – Stage 3 Street / Strip

Now we’re getting into proper mechanical music.
For mildly built or big-bore Evos that want serious attitude. Higher lift and duration deliver thrilling top-end charge.

Recommended pairing:

  • 9.5–10.0:1 compression

  • Ported or matched heads

  • Mikuni HSR42–45 or S&S Super G

  • 2-into-1 performance exhaust

  • Heavy-duty valve springs

  • Dynatek 2000i ignition

  • High-flow oil pump

🧨 EV46 – Stage 3–4 High Output

A hooligan’s delight — mechanical sympathy not guaranteed.
For well-built engines with big-bore kits and high-flow heads. Delivers real horsepower at higher RPMs and an unmistakable bark.

Recommended pairing:

  • 10.0–10.5:1 compression

  • Big-valve heads (S&S or Screamin’ Eagle)

  • Mikuni HSR45 or S&S Super G

  • Stepped 2-into-1 exhaust

  • Upgraded clutch & valve train

  • Dynatek 2000i ignition

  • High-flow oil pump and cooler

🏁 EV59 – Stage 4 Race / Strip

At this point, you’re tuning for glory, not comfort.
Full-tilt race cam for dedicated builds. Demands compression, ported heads, and commitment.

Recommended pairing:

  • 10.5:1+ forged pistons

  • Ported or aftermarket race heads

  • Mikuni HSR48 or S&S Super G

  • Custom 2-into-1 racing exhaust

  • Heavy-duty valve train & lifters
